Wire Rope Slings Wire Rope slings are the most widely used items that American Sling sells. Their versatility and cost are the main reasons. American Sling produces wire rope assemblies that incorporate "multi-leg" designs. These assemblies are referred to as 'bridles'. Usually, an "oval" or a "pear shaped link" is placed atop the assembly. The wire rope 'legs' usually extend from this link in a downward fashion to the eyes, hooks, thimble-eyes, or special fittings required by the end user located at the bottom of the assembly. The load being lifted and the wire rope size will determine the sizes of the components used in any assembly. If you are replacing an item already in use, please note the fittings you are currently using so that we can replace the exact setup you are already using. Our rigging shop, staffed with factory trained technicians, has the capability to produce an extensive variety of wire rope slings to meet your application. We can produce single part slings from 1/4" up to 2-1/2" diameters. Additionally, we can make custom multi-part slings consisting of 3 part, 6 part, 8 part and 9 part constructions. We also produce endless grommet slings to meet your specifications.
Double and Multi-leg bridles are measured a little differently than EE (Eye & EYE) ET (Eye & Thimble) or TT (Thimble & Thimble) slings. The illustration below shows this. The hardware positioned at the 'top' of the assembly is not included in the length of the sling. The measurement is taken from the bearing point of the attachment, or eye, at the bottom of the assembly to the bearing of the wire rope sling that attaches to the link at the top of the assembly.
Triple and Quad legged wire rope slings are also manufactured by American Sling. These slings are widely used in the contruction industry for lifting large containers in which a balanced load is critical. Typical 3-leg of 4-leg bridles can be equipped with a variety of hooks or hardware. We maintain a strong inventory of eye hooks that can be added to any multi-leg bridle.
