Chain Slings Chain
slings offer years of service and exceptional versatility. Typical chain
slings are offered in both welded and mechanical types. Chain slings
are constructed of either Grade 8 Alloy or Grade 10 alloy chain and
components. Many different configurations are offered in traditional
chain sling types. One advantage of a chain sling is the adjustability
feature. Chain slings can be sized to fit many different lifts by using
fittings that allow for adjustment. Mechanical chain slings incorporate
attachments that are designed to be assembled without the timely and
expensive costs of a welded sling. Most mechanical slings can be assembled
for same-day delivery. Most fittings for traditional welded chain slings
have been adapted for mechanical chain slings. American
Sling Company is a fully equipped CM certified welded chain sling repair
station and an assembly station for CM Herc-Alloy chain slings. We also
carry the Campbell Cam-Alloy Grade-100 line of chain products. One recent
addition to the American Sling product line up is a highly innovative
GrabIQ
(pronounced 'grab-eek') chain system
offered by Gunnebo. American Sling Company is one of select few vendors
across the country to offer this system and the only company in the
D/FW area as well. This system is a completely unique, fully patented
system that has taken much of the weight typically associated with multi-leg
slings and integrating multiple components in to singular components
and combine all that with superior Grade-10 workloads.

Single Leg Chain Slings
Single leg chain slings are available in both welded (W) and mechanical (M) forms. Single leg chain slings are referred to as a "Type S' chain sling. The 'S' refers to "Single". The next item in naming a chain sling is the hardware used at the top of the chain sling. In many cases, the same fitting is used at both ends of the chain sling. In some cases, an Oblong Link is used at the top of then sling. An Oblong Link is referred to as (O). The next consideration to be added to the equation is the hardware used at the bottom of the sling. Grab hooks are referred to as (G), sling hooks are referred to as (S & SL when a latch is required), when a positive locking Latchlock hook is required, it is referred to as (L). If a foundry hook is required, an (F) is added to the nomenclature.Chain slings with a Pear or Oblong link as a top fixture are available in type 'A' and type 'B' adjustable models.
Two
legged chain slings are referred to as Type "D" for Double. They can
be either welded or mechanical and usually have an Oblong link at
the top. The desired fittings usually Grab Hooks, Sling Hooks, Positive
Locking 'Latchlock' hooks or foundry hooks can be added to each leg.
Type "D" slings are also available in adjustable models.
